Cows get killed for Milk
The cows, they do get killed and their calves too.
Mum must get pregnant to stimulate her mammary glands to secrete milk. Simple biology.
Because humans want the milk the calf must not drink it, so once it is born, the calf has served its chief purpose and is usually killed either for tender veal whilst still very young or fattened in the beef herd and then killed for meat anyway. If a 'good looking' female calf is produced, she is put with the dairy herd and milked and impregnated for five years.
Then the dairy cow is sent to the abattoir, 15 years short of her natural lifespan, because her milk output drops below the commercially viable level. Milk is something most people don't want to know too much about in case it forces them to be put off all the thousands of things made with milk.
